Artist's Statement:
"Your next encounter will be with the Sirens, who bewitch
every man that approaches them .... For with the music
of their song the Sirens cast their spell upon him, as they
sit there in a meadow piled high with the moldering skeletons
of men, whose withered skin still hangs upon their bones."

~ Circe to Odysseus, the Odyssey, Book XII

I formally thought of the women who played the seductive game of the siren, as being one of the most evil types of women on earth.  I thought this, because of the extreme emotional pain that results from their behavior.  However, the reason that their pain is so extreme: is because they confront you with your own personal darkness.  They reflect and torture you with issues that you harbor deep in your mind.  Survival comes when you awaken and realize that the problem lies totally within your own mind.  This psychological battle lies "within," as opposed to "without."  Once you realize that it's a matter of values and how you look at yourself and all that surrounds you: their power over you melts away.
